Madan Gurung, a refugee from the Bhutan refugee camps in Nepal couldn't wait to bring his family to a safe country and make a life for them here.  But when they arrived, they were soon faced with a set of different challenges.

Madan, his wife and his brother and sister are deaf.

CHS got together with other community groups in London to figure out how we could best meet their specialized needs. A unique LINC program that teaches ASL to Deaf newcomers was created to help Madan, his family and the other refugees lead a better life in their new home.

"When I first came to Canada I never thought I'd be able to take the bus or visit the doctor on my own.  But now I can do those things and so much more, because of CHS and the LINC program."                                     Madan Gurung
